Thanksgiving Three Ways

With Thanksgiving just a few days away, I thought I would share three inspired looks for the special day.  Whether its going to be a big family event, a more polished dinner, or lounging on the couch, there is no reason to skip looking your best!

I. Suit’d and Laid-Back

For a more refined dinner or event on Turkey day, a casual suit is always a solid option.  Usually, Thanksgiving is reserved for family time with your loved ones.  There aren’t going to be too many occasions that require a full-on suit and tie or black-tie, but when the event requires a little more effort or if you just want to step it up a notch for the holidays, a suit and rollneck combo are one of the best options out there.  Its refined yet casual, and staying with earthy tones helps to convey the spirit of the season.  Keep the look laid-back with softer textures and a pair of loafers.  Also, no matter where you are heading, this guy looks like someone who likes his bourbon or whiskey – so bring a bottle along to whoever is hosting you!

II. Casually Refined

There comes a time when you have to spend the holidays with your in-laws or someone you feel like you need to make a good first-impression on – this is where the casually refined look comes into play.  Going with a soft structured jacket, cashmere sweater, moleskin trouser, and a pair of classic boots doesn’t come off as too stuffy, and it is a perfect compliment to the holidays.  Its comfortable, which helps if you’re nervous, and you don’t look like you’re trying too hard either.  A lot of us wear this kind of simple look on a daily basis – so no need to switch it up too much for the Thanksgiving dinner.  Once again, keep the textures soft and cozy – it helps to play right in with the season.  Don’t forget the wine… who doesn’t love wine?

III. Thankful for Football….

And then there are those who plan on eating too much (more than once…) and lounging on the couch all day while watching football.  You may not even plan on leaving your home this day, and maybe even partake in the great American tradition of the “family football game”.  A shawl collar cardigan is perfect for a relaxing day with friends and family around the house.  Keeping everything relaxed with a sweatshirt, jeans, and a pair of sneakers, you are not only ready to be stuck in a food coma on the couch, but also ready to go throw the ol’ pigskin around in the yard.  It looks like it may be a chilly day so don’t forget the hat and gloves.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Salud.
