Unconsciously, I always look to the color blue. When in doubt, it is so easy to pair shades of blue together to come up with something coherent. Today, it was more of this developed habit. With it being a bit cooler this morning, I went with this big checked jacket from L.B.M 1911 and a pair of tweed trousers. While keeping the rest of the look simple, pairing a denim shirt with a darker-denim trimmed square worked well.

This jacket by L.B.M. 1911 is a nice shade of blue with a lighter shade check that stands out beautifully. It has a fuzzy texture that works perfectly in the cooler days, and is also completely unstructured keeping it inherently Italian – as it should be. The soft tailoring that L.B.M 1911 is known for is very much present here.

A denim shirt here is great for keeping things relaxed. This shirt by alara has become one of my favorites (I definitely recommend checking out their showroom if you are in NYC). A cutaway collar without a tie always looks good to me, but I know its not everyone’s cup of tea. The pocket square also is trimmed in a darker shade of denim, and I think it works best when following the idea that when pairing denim together it should be in different shades.

For the bottom half, gray tweed trousers and a pair of black tassel loafers. The sun was out so I brought the loafers out, and I don’t think they are out of place here. Spring has come, but the mornings remain chilly so hopefully in the coming weeks I’ll be able to put the winter gear away.
