Interview: hook+ALBERT

With Spring around the corner (I swear it is), it is time to get prepared. There are so many options that come available for the warmer months and one of the most fun and exciting ways to dress for the season is to accessorize with the season. Accessories can add that subtle touch that brings your whole look together and there is one company that breathes this concept: hook+ALBERT.

hook+ALBERT is dedicated to providing men with the final touches with as much flare (or as little) as you want. From their collection of shoe laces, lapel flowers and socks – there is something for everyone.

I had a chance to speak with the co-founders, Adam Schoenberg and Cory Rosenberg, about spring necessities and the hook+ALBERT S/S ‘13 collection:

The menswear world is an ever-changing one. What about h+A is able to conform, as well as standout?
At hook+ALBERT, our core mission is to merge fit, function and fashion. As a company we’re about providing today’s man with the details that will help enhance his personal style. We’re solely committed to creating the best accessories in the marketplace. There really is no other company in the men’s world dedicated to just that.

When I think about spring time the thoughts of linen, cotton, sock-less etc. come to mind? What are your feeling this time around?
We totally agree. Especially with our offices on both the east and west coast, when heat picks up its all about staying cool. Dressing in light fabrics, linens and in light colors is a must.

Guys typically want to be able to wear their socks year round, so we provide them with a breathable sock that works both in the colder and warmer months. For the guy that wants that sock-less look without sacrificing style or comfort, we’ve designed one of the best loafer liners in market – no–slip heel grip that actually stays on the heel and with the comfort and protection of an actual sock.

Must-have in your wardrobe for spring. GO!
Without question, the must-have for our team are the loafer liners. Every male should have these, one in every color. No matter what you’re wearing in spring and summer, you want to achieve that sock-less look, and this is the go-to product for just that.

How is the S/S ‘13 collection going to influence this complex world of menswear?
Every season we select an inspiration and build our collection around that. The spring/summer collection is inspired by a 1970s summer. Think the movie “The Sandlot” – kids going to the lake, fishing, playing with paper airplanes and you know that iconic classic 70s style wallpaper in mom’s kitchen. The entire sock and lapel flower collections are based on the theme of this decade. We don’t just make any socks, we make the best fitting sock with functional arch support, the world’s best cotton, and y-stitched heel. Everything is about the highest of quality.

Your favorite items in this collection?
Adam Schoenberg: Loafer liners, First Class dress socks – White socks with blue polka dot

Cory Rosenberg: Dress socks – Candy Land Stripes, New Field House Thick/Thin Stripes, Rapture Rose Loafer Liners, and Camo Lapel Flower

Final thoughts on spring, h+A and the S/S ‘13 collection…
We’re extremely proud of the spring/summer collection and the receptivity of the marketplace has been fantastic. We’re entering the jewelry space and launching new products that are designed in a way the marketplace has yet to see. We’re continuing to evolve in the marketplace and offer things that do not exist.
